IQNA – There will be no Iranian Hajj pilgrims in the holy city of Mecca by July 26, according to Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization.

The organization said in a statement on Monday that more than 50,000 pilgrims have already returned to Iran.

Due to the emergency conditions caused by the war imposed by the Zionist regime on Iran and the lack of air transportation, the return of pilgrims in the form of air-land travel packages is underway rapidly, and by the end of Monday, 50,700 people had been transported to the country, it said.

Of the remaining 36,000 pilgrims, 11,000 are in Medina and 25,000 are in Mecca, and the return process will be completed by the 5th of Muharram (July 1), as planned, the statement added.

“Accordingly, today, Monday, June 23, 4,800 pilgrims present in Mecca were sent from Jeddah Airport in 30 convoys, and about 3,000 pilgrims from Medina were sent from Medina Airport in 19 convoys to the city of Arar (on the Saudi-Iraqi border).

“The process of returning pilgrims, which was carried out at a slower pace in the early days, has accelerated with the round-the-clock efforts of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization and assistance from Saudi Arabia and Iraq, and the city of Mecca will be emptied of Iranian pilgrims on July 25 and Medina by July 10.”

On Friday, Alireza Bayat, the head of the organization, noted that a hybrid aerial-ground route via Iraq is being used to transfer the Iranian Hajj pilgrims.

He appreciated the efforts made by Saudi Arabia and Iraq to facilitate this process.

The Iranian Hajj pilgrims have remained in Saudi Arabia after the conclusion of Hajj due to cancelation of return flights after the Israeli regime launched its military aggression on Iran on June 13.
